Greek Turkey Burgers

The weather has been pretty perfect in Ohio over the past few weeks. And us Ohioans don’t get to say that very often. Taking advantage of this beautiful weather only feels right so we try to fire up the grill as often as possible. While beef burgers are obviously delicious, we’ve been on a turkey kick lately and I think I like it. Give these a try and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ground turkey (I use 93% lean but you could go leaner if you prefer)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup of chopped red onion
  • 1 handful of chopped spinach
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • black pepper to taste
  • Hamburger Buns
  • Optional but recommended: Tzatziki Sauce, Lettuce, Onion, Cucumber for toppings

Instructions:

  1. Turn on your grill to med-high heat;
  2. In a large bowl, mix together ground turkey, egg, bread crumbs, chopped onion, spinach, and feta until well combined;
  3. Form turkey mixture until 3 or 4 patties. The thicker the patty, the less likely the feta will melt out of the burger during the grilling process. I prefer 1-inch thick patties;
  4. Place patties on the oiled grill;
  5. Let each side cook for 10 minutes or until cooked all the way through. (10 minutes for each side is an estimate. This could take less or more time depending on how hot your grill is);
  6. Top the burgers with Tzatziki Sauce, Lettuce, Onion, and thinly sliced cucumber. Enjoy!
