Pumpkin Spice Latte Martini

It’s true, I often complain about living in Ohio.. the weather is unpredictable, its often cloudy, we aren’t close to any water… blah. blah. blah. On the contrary, there is one time of the year that you won’t hear me complaining. Autumn in the midwest is absolutely wonderful. The changing leaves, sweater weather, the game day spirit (Go Bucks!) and most importantly, the delicious seasonal food!! More specifically, pumpkin everything! Give me all the pumpkin donuts and pumpkin beer! What are your favorite pumpkin dishes??

To celebrate the changing of seasons, I present you with the Pumpkin Spice Latte Martini! Vanilla Vodka combined with homemade pumpkin spice simple syrup, half and half, and some powdered espresso, shaken and poured into a martini glass with a brown sugar rim. I mean come on.. YES! YES! YES! I’ll take 10.

Make this for your friends on a Friday afternoon for a delicious jolt of caffeine that will help you rock through your Friday night plans! And as usual, let me know what you think! Enjoy 🙂

Course Drinks
Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 2 Martinis

Ingredients

Pumpkin Pie Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice

Martini Glass Rim

  • 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Water

Martini (Makes 2 Martinis)

  • 2.5 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 2.5 oz Milk or Half and Half I've tried both (cream is obviously richer but milk works too)
  • 1.5 oz Pumpkin Pie Simple Syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon Powdered Espresso

Instructions

Pumpkin Pie Simple Syrup

  1. Combine the sugar, water, and pumpkin puree in a small sauce pan

  2. Warm over medium heat until all sugar has dissolved

  3. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl. Cover and refrigerate until cool.

Pumpkin Pie Martini

  1. Mix together the brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice in a shallow bowl

  2. In a separate bowl, add about 1/4 inch of water to a shallow bowl

  3. Dip the outer rim of the martini glass into the water dish and then immediately dip into the brown sugar mixture. You might have to twist the martini glass to ensure the entire rim is coated. Set the rimmed martini glasses aside while you make the cocktail.

  4. Fill a martini shaker halfway with ice.

  5. Add the vodka, milk (or half and half), simple syrup, and espresso powder to the martini shaker. It's easiest to measure these ingredients using a jigger.

  6. Cover the martini shaker using another glass or a lid and shake in a back and forth motion for approximately 20-30 seconds.

  7. Strain the cocktail into the rimmed glasses.

Recipe Notes

You will have leftover simple syrup to make additional cocktails (up to 10) or use in your coffee the next morning
